Chapter 7 Changing the Attap roofing

Every two or three years or so the attap roofing of Fabian' s home along Anson Road was due for changing otherwise it will leaked on rainy days.Not only that the planked also requires a white wash.

The attap had to be purchase from Durian Sabatang and the changing normally done by Malay Contractors.It was never a big job and could be done completely within three days.First the old attap got to be removed and did it portion by portion.In anuy case any portion whose attap were removed will be replaced with new ones.

Two Malay worker does the job and they were reallyfast in their job.Within three days or so the job was completed with eased.With its new roofing done next comes the painting with lime powder.Actually it was to be a white wash and family members help in the process of painting.

Frnacis and Fabian too joined in the painting.Beng small boys they could hardly lift the brushes to paint.In stead of giving a good painting they were dripping white wash everywhere.On one occasion instead of painting on to the wall,Fabian ran the brushed over Francis face and body.

"Hey!,why you bo good fool,you are painting on me"cried Framncis.
"Oh,is it?",further playfully painted again on his body,Francis got mad,he plicked up a big stick and gave chased to Fabian.Fabian seeing the stick on Francis hand began to run away.
Poor Fabian he accidently ran into the arms of the grandmother who was standing waiting tio administered the caning on Fabian.
"You naughty boy"she said while caning Fabian,"I will cane you now".As she caught hold of Fabian by the arm she gave him two strokes of the cane.
"Aiya,my por backside,it surely is painful"as he struggled free from the grip of his gaaaaarand maiother and ran way as fast as he could.
"Very good,serve you right,you naughty boy"shouted Francis.
